Happy to announce I will be represented out in the Berkshires by the beautiful Diana Felber Gallery in West Stockbridge MA (http://dianafelbergallery.com/david-skillicorn/). The gallery represents a really strong group of artists whose work I really respect. I'm really honored to be among them.
Packed house turn out for the opening last night at Galatea Fine Art in Boston. My painting in the show had a prominent placement, and I really enjoyed meeting collectors and the other very fine artists in the exhibition. Below: Motet, 60" x 60", mixed media on canvas. Happy to have this large painting (Motet, 60" x 60") selected into the annual juried show at Galatea Fine Art Gallery in Boston, curated by Julie Burros, Chief of Arts and Culture for the city. Show will be up August 3 - 28, with an opening reception on August 5 from 6-8pm. Hope some of you can stop by and see the show.
Tremendous turn out for the opening of the national juried exhibition "Patterns" at the Attleboro Art Museum last night. Its a really strong show and I enjoyed seeing the other works and meeting some of the artists. I was pleased to see my painting Memory I very prominently displayed so its exposed through the Museum's main window to the street, representing the exhibition to the outside world. Very nice and much appreciated.
Its always amazing to me how much energy it takes to mount an exhibition. Usually for me, there is a rush of new work in anticipation of the show, all the work involved in cataloguing the pieces to go in the show, wiring all the paintings and mounting the exhibition itself, and then all the effort that goes into get the word out. Opening night is always a lot of fun, and worth all the effort. Old friends and new collectors stop by, and it is always a great feeling to talk about and show what you've been up to. Inevitably, there is always a bit of a let down when it is all over and the show comes down. Time to pick up the pieces and carry on to the next thing. This time around, in addition to the usual reorganizing and cleaning of my studio, I decided to build a big new easel in anticipation of larger works I'm contemplating. Very simply designed, the new easel can accommodate huge paintings should I go that way. Here are a couple of pictures of it, one almost complete in the full studio space, and another with the first painting (30" x 48") just about ready to come of it. Tremendous turn out for my opening at the Elusie Gallery last night. I'm very grateful and many thanks to all those who were able to come.
Very happy to have these two commissioned paintings up and running at the new and beautifully refurbished Shea Theater Arts Center in Turner's Falls, MA.
Pictured are Somnium I and II, both 48" x 48" mixed media on canvas.
I will be having a solo show of recent work at Elusie Gallery in Easthampton MA, March 11 to April 2. There will be an opening reception on March 12 at the Gallery from 5 to 8pm.
